Travelers Among Mountains and streams

In the ecstasy of art that represented the Song Dynasty came three extraordinary painters were known as “the three painters rivals.” The first was the aforementioned Li Cheng (see previous work). Guan Tong is his contemporary, master of the art “Fu Pi Cun” with skillfully representing the angular shapes of the mountains. The youngest of the three is Fan Kuan. Of the latter are known very few biographical details, and few of his works have come down to our days have come, but one of them, “Travelers Among Mountains and rivers,” is truly exceptional.
